Make a Mini River Board (2-Day Class)

In this hands-on, two-day woodworking class, you'll create a stunning mini river board using beautiful domestic walnut hardwood and colored epoxy. You'll learn the fundamentals of epoxy resins, shaping, sanding, and finishingwhile building a functional serving-style board complete with stainless steel handles with a brushed brass finish and rubber feet. The finished board will measure approximately 10" x 15" x 3/4".

This beginner-friendly class is split into two sessions to allow time for the epoxy to properly cure between steps. The second day of the class will take place one week following the first day.

Class Dates & Times:

• 10/10/2026 2pm - 5pm (Day 1)
• 10/17/2026 2pm - 5 pm (Day 2)

• 10/18/2026 Noon - 3pm (Day 1)
• 10/25/2026 Noon - 3pm (Day 2)

What You'll Do:
Day One - Design & Epoxy Pour

• Select two walnut boards from a variety of domestic hardwood pieces
• Trace and cut your custom river shape using a template and jigsaw or bandsaw
• Prepare your pieces for casting using Rockler's Silicone Casting Mold
• Mix MAS Deep Pour Epoxy with Mica Pigment and pour your river design

 Day Two - Shaping & Finishing

• Remove your board from the mold once fully cured
• Flatten your board using a planer or drum sander
• Drill handle holes using a drill driver
• Finish sand all surfaces using random orbit sanders and hand sanding tools
• Install stainless steel handles with a brushed brass finish (optional)
• Attach rubber feet to the bottom (optional)
• Apply a food-safe finish (such as Odie's Oil)

• Each attendee takes home their completed mini river board

Don't miss this exciting, free hands-on demo where you'll experience greater control and stability at the lathe!

Our expert demonstrator will walk you through the features and benefits of the Robert Sorby Steady PRO Tool Rest Jig, showing how it enhances control while turning and helps you achieve smoother, more precise cuts. You'll see the jig in action as the instructor demonstrates turning techniques using Rockler carbide turning tools on a wooden bowl. This is a rolling format demo, so you can drop by anytime between 12pm and 2pm.

The real fun is when you step up to the lathe! Attendees will have the opportunity to try the Steady PRO Tool Rest themselves using carbide tools on a prepared blank to make controlled turning cuts (participants must be 18 or older for hands-on participation). Whether you're new to turning or looking to improve your technique, you'll leave with the confidence to take control at the lathe.

Build Strong Joints Fast: Hands-On with Rockler's Beadlock Joinery Jig

Saturday, June 27th Noon - 2pm

Don't miss this exciting, free hands-on demo where you'll learn how to create strong, accurate joinery with ease!

Our expert demonstrator will walk you through the features and benefits of Rockler's Beadlock Joinery Jig, along with available accessories that expand its capabilities. You'll see how this innovative system allows you to quickly crate strong, mortise-and-tenon-style joints using standard drill bits. This is a rolling-format demo, so you can drop by anytime between 12pm and 2pm.

The real fun is when you step up to the jig! Attendees will have the opportunity to use the Beadlock Jig themselves to create a joint using prepared lumber under instructor supervision (participants must be 18 or older for hands-on participation). Whether you're building furniture or tackling shop projects, you'll leave with the confidence to build strong joints fast.
