The Challenge:

As our homes and workspaces take on more roles — the office-guest room, workshop-dining room, or living room that doubles as a gym — people are getting creative about how to make the most of smaller spaces. To inspire DIYers and woodworkers to think creatively about small-space design, Rockler Woodworking & Hardware is introducing the Rockler Small Space Challenge, a national competition led by renowned YouTube Creator and woodworker Chris Salomone of Foureyes Furniture. The challenge encourages people of all skill levels to design, build and showcase their most innovative, space-saving solutions. Whether it’s folding furniture, wall-mounted storage, nesting tables, or compact workstations, the goal is to prove that even the smallest spaces can work smarter.

Build a woodworking project specifically designed for a small space in your house like a little nook, something tucked between a sofa and the wall, the desktop, etc. You can interpret what a small space is in your house, shop or life. Show us your creativity and innovation as you build your project! Feel free to track your progress on Instagram through posts, reels, and stories. We encourage you to also share a video on YouTube (though that's not a requirement). The challenge ends on June 30, 2026.

How to enter:

Build a project. Post a photo or video on your Instagram account using #Rocklersmallspacechallenge. You’re encouraged to also tag @rockler_woodworking and @foureyesfurniture when you post.

  • Three Tier Plant Stand Project Plan

    This three tiered planter stand project is great for kitchen countertops or balconies. It’s small footprint and folding capabilities allow for easy storage when not in use. The stand is made entirely from African Mahogany which is naturally resistant decay and infestations.
    Each of the three boxes uses less than three feet of lumber with a dado near the bottom to accept the ¼” piece of the same species. Joined together with box joints that will ensure strength and integrity for years to come.
    A nice coat of Tung oil brings out the grain pattern and gives the mahogany a rich natural hue as well as protect it from the harsh seasonal elements.

ROCKLER SMALL SPACE CHALLENGE OFFICIAL RULES
  1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. MAKING A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
  2. HOW TO ENTER: Beginning on March 26, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. Central Time ("Start Date") through June 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time ("End Date"), click here and follow the on-screen entry instructions. Fill in all required information. Limit of one entry per person. Use of any robotic, automatic, programmed, or similar entry method or entering more than the permitted number of times will void all entries and result in disqualification. You may not enter more times than indicated by using multiple email addresses, identities, or devices to circumvent the rules.
  3. ELIGIBILTY: Open to residents of the 50 United States and D.C., 18 years of age and older as of Start Date, except for employees, directors, officers, and members of their immediate family or persons living in the same household, of rockler.mompanies, Inc. ("Sponsor" or “Rockler”) and its affiliates, subsidiaries, and agencies. Rockler and its subsidiaries, divisions, and affiliates are collectively the "Promotion Parties." Void where prohibited by law. In addition, there will be a Best Use of Rockler Hardware Prize of a $500 Rockler gift card and Rockler Prize Pack; which Rockler will judge based on the entries and the descriptions of Rockler hardware used to create the project. All amounts in USD. The Prize consists of only those items specifically listed as part of the Prize. No cash substitution, transfer, or assignment of any prize is allowed, except as allowed by Rockler, which reserves the right to substitute Prizes of equal or greater value. Limit one Prize per family, household, or entry.
  5. WINNERS: Winners will be selected by Chris Salomone (the “Judge”) a few weeks following the challenge's close and will be announced on Instagram. In addition, Rockler will judge entries (other than the winners of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place) based on the best use of Rockler hardware used to create the project entries; entrants are encouraged to describe the Rockler hardware used to create their project. All entries must be original projects that are newly created for this Small Space Challenge. Winners will be selected from all eligible entries received. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. The potential winners may also be notified by email. If a potential winner cannot be contacted or verified, is disqualified for any reason, or is unable or unwilling to accept the price, then the Prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner. Provided sufficient time remains Rockler will award the applicable Prize to an alternate winner. Each potential winner must sign and return any required forms including, for example, Affidavit of Eligibility and Release no later than the date required. Failure to respond by the applicable deadline will result in forfeiture of Prize and the Prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. All taxes, fees, and costs (other than those specifically referenced in the Prize) resulting from acceptance of Prize are the responsibility of the winner. By entering this contest, entrant accepts and agrees to these Official Rules and the decisions of Rockler and the Judge, which shall be final in all matters. By accepting the Prize, the winner authorizes the Promotion Parties to (a) use winner's name, likeness, project information (including any pictures, videos, and text) and biographical information for marketing purposes without further compensation or right of approval, except in Tennessee or where prohibited by law, and (b) divulge the name of the winner. The entrants and winners grant Rockler a worldwide, irrevocable, fully-paid, sublicensable, license to use the entrant’s and winner’s photographs of the project, including, without limitation, the right to post the photographs on Rockler’s social media accounts. All federal and state laws apply.
  6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: By entering this contest, entrants waive all right to, and hold the Promotion Parties harmless from, any claim, liability, loss, damage (including punitive, incidental, and consequential damages), or expense (including attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with participation in this contest or the acceptance, use, or misuse of any Prize. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. In the event of termination, winners will be selected from among all eligible entries received as of the End Date. CHOICE OF LAW AND FORUM: Entrant agrees that all matters arising out of or relating to this contest and these Official Rules are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Minnesota, without giving effect to any of its conflict of laws provisions. Entrant further agrees that any legal suit, action, or proceeding arising out of or relating to this contest and these Official Rules shall be brought exclusively in the applicable federal or state courts located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
  8. PRIVACY: Information submitted with entries is subject to Rockler’s Privacy Policy.
  9. WINNERS LIST: For the names of the Prize winners, available after July 30, 2026, send a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope to the Sponsor at the address below.
  10. MISCELLANEOUS: This contest is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram or YouTube. Each entrant or participant agrees to a complete release of Instagram or YouTube.
